iHockeyTrainer Year End Awards
With the Stanley Cup now over this is the time of year where we look back at the year, and give due to our iHockeyTrainer award winners.
Best Defensive Defenseman: Niklas Lidstrom (Detroit) - Always against teams top players. Well this will become more clear next year when Jimmy Howards GAA average balloons up with his retirement.
Runner Up- Zdeno Chara (Boston)
Best Offensive Defenceman - Erik Karllson (Ottawa) - Hard to argue with those numbers. 19 goals & 78 pts. Will be great to watch for years to come.
Runner Up- Shea Weber (Nashville)
Coach of the Year - Paul MacLean (Ottawa)- Anybody see how bad the Sens were in ‘11/’12???
Runner-Up - Ken Hitchcock (St. Louis)
Offensive Forward of the Year - Evgeni Malkin (Pittsburgh) Now has more Art Ross’ than Crosby.
Defensive Forward of the Year - Ryan Kessler (Vancouver) - Still the reason the Vancouver has a chance to win every night
Runner-Up - Brian Boyle (New York Rangers)
Goalie of the Year - Jonathan Quick - Maybe will be better recognized after the Stanley Cup run.
Runner-Up - Henrik Lundqvist (New York Rangers)
Disapointing Team of the Year - Toronto Maple Leafs - Such high hopes after good start...but reality set in with Goaltending & lack of scoring depth in the middle.
Runner-Up - San Jose Sharks
Surprise Team of the Year - Ottawa Senators - Almost took down the rangers in Round 1
Runner Up - Florida Panthers
Best NHL Prospect Award - Evgeni Kuznetsev (Washington)- World Junior phenom, has buried Team Canada two years in a row playing for Russia
Runner-Up - Dougie Hamilton (Boston) - Anchored the IceDogs to the OHL finals...just another reason the Kessel trade still hurts in Toronto.
Rookie of the Year - Adam Henrique (New Jersey)- Playoffs may have put him over the top with clutch scoring.
Runner Up: Gabriel Landeskog (Colorado)
Minor League Player of the Year - Cory Conacher (Norfolk AHL) - First year player paced the leagues best team offensively in regular season & playoffs....and still got over 100 PIMs.
Runner -Up - Gustav NyQvist (Grand Rapids) - Shocker, another stud coming up for Detroit.

Worst Story-line of the Year: Columbus Blue Jackets. Combination of Rick Nash drama, Jeff Carters brief stint & losing the 1st overall pick in the draft lottery is getting painful to follow.
Runner Up: Tim Thomas & The White House
Comeback Player of the Year: Ilya Kovalchuk
Best Story-line of the Year: Philadelphia Flyers - Always entertaining. Wheeling & dealing (Carter/Richards), Taking down the Pens in high scoring Round #1 & Emergence of Claude Giroux as a true star.
Runner-Up- Sam Gagne’s incredible night scoring 8 points in a single game.
